The idea of the Latin American Mapping Challenge, carried out by Epson, is to transmit, through artistic projections in public spaces, the cultural richness of different cultures. Brazil was one of the countries chosen to join leading-edge technology in laser projectors with local history and talent.
Estúdio Preto e Branco was the winner of the Brazilian edition of the award, whose theme was “Rio de Janeiro – Cidade Maravilhosa”. The audiovisual show illuminated the façade of the Belmond Copacabana Palace.
From the Historic Glamour of Copacabana to the colorful Carioca Communities, we invited the viewer to take an audiovisual tour through the rhythms and important cultural expressions of Rio de Janeiro. From Bossa Nova to Funk, the animation showed snapshots of life in the Marvelous city, in a true homage to its natural beauties, people, architectural icons, culture and social diversity.
“Dancing Copacabana” took advantage of the mapping technique to transform the Copacabana Palace building into a main character, a leading musician, both dancer and stage in this immersion through the universe of Rio.
